Description

The tall, jagged rocks off Gurzuf on the Crimean coast, standing in a calm blue sea, with rocky ledges in front.

An étude is a study painted on the spot, and this one has that freshness. Skorobogatov builds the rocks in thick, sculptural oil strokes of silver and ochre and breaks the water into a mosaic of small blue and violet touches.
