Plant 5

A king protea in full bloom: rose-pink bracts opening around a feathery center, broad leaves turning from olive to golden brown, and a woody stem drawn with real texture.

Anastasia Mitikova models each pointed bract in watercolor layers from pale pink to deep rose. The protea is South Africa's national flower and has become a symbol of change and resilience, which makes this watercolor a thoughtful present as well as a handsome botanical piece.
