Description

Red poppies in the foreground, and behind them the sunlit rocky mountains near Koktebel in eastern Crimea, against a deep blue sky.

The poppies are loose and blurred, as if seen from a moving car; the mountains are more solid, in warm ochre and rose. Koktebel has drawn painters and poets since Maximilian Voloshin lived there, and this small oil by Ivan Skorobogatov shows why.
