Viburnum blooms

Description
Viburnum in flower: flat lace-cap heads with big white outer florets and tiny cream buds, surrounded by deep green leaves. Symchych fills the square watercolor sheet edge to edge. The white florets are almost bare paper with faint lilac and blue shadows; the leaves behind go from emerald to nearly black, and that contrast makes the blossom shine. Viburnum, kalyna in Ukrainian, is one of the country's best-loved symbols.
