White Roses In A Vase

Cream-white roses in a tall glass vase on a warm wooden table, a cut rose and some leaves lying in front, a pale blue-gray wall behind.

The brown wood is the one warm note, and it makes the cool wall and the creamy roses look even softer. The petals have a velvety finish; the stems through the glass are clear and sharp.

Simple and balanced: Ivan Volkov's oil still life at its most classical.
