Bouquet of Peonies

Creamy white peonies with crimson flecks in their centers, tight pink buds and dark glossy leaves, against a soft green background.

Eldiyar Sharshenbiev paints flowers almost exclusively, with thick paint and careful modelling, and here he builds each ruffled bloom from light to shadow so it seems to swell off the canvas. The lower half is darker, which makes the whites glow. A classical floral still life in oil, 80 × 65 cm, generous enough to anchor a wall.
