Description

Gray and white boats doubled in deep blue water, with a quay and pale pink buildings behind.

Daniel Volkov keeps this oil sketch simple: flat planes of slate and silver for the hulls, cobalt and navy for the water, warm ochre for the shore. The impasto catches light from the side and gives the little board an almost sculptural surface.
